Early Life

Bongino was born on December 4, 1974, in Queens, New York. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degree in psychology from the City University of New York. After that, he earned his Master of Business Administration from Pennsylvania State University.

From 1995 to 1999, Bongino worked with the New York City Police Department. He then went to join the U.S. Secret Service in 1999 as a special agent.

In 2006, Bongino was assigned to the U.S. Presidential Protection Division during George W. Bush’s administration. He remained on the job after Barack Obama became president and eventually decided to leave in May 2011 to run for the U.S. Senate.

In 2013, Bongino released a book called “Life Inside the Bubble” about his career as a Secret Service agent. The book showed his experiences in protecting presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama while investigating other federal crimes along with his 2012 run for the U.S. Senate in Maryland.

Three years later, he wrote another book called “The Fight: A Secret Service Agent’s Inside Account of Security Failings and the Political Machine”.

Bongino is also a radio host and commentator on both local and national radio programs. He is a frequent contributor on Fox News where he has been a guest host for both Sean Hannity and Mark Levin. Until December 2018, he was a paid commentator to NRATV.

A pro-supporter of Donald Trump, Bongino has also alleged that Barack Obama’s administration illegally spied on Donald Trump’s 2015 campaign. He has also written a book “Spygate: The Attempted Sabotage of Donald J. Trump” related to that matter.

Unsuccessful Political Campaigns

In 2012, Bongino ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. Senate in Maryland. He won the Republican primary with 33.8 percent of the vote but lost to incumbent Democrat Ben Cardin in the 2012 general election.

Bongino then decided to run for the U.S. House of Representative’s seat from Maryland’s 6th Congressional District against incumbent Democrat John Delaney. He lost to Delaney by two percentage points.

In 2015, Bongino moved to Florida and declared that he would seek the Republican nomination for Florida’s 19th congressional district. He faced Chauncey Goss and Francis Rooney in the election. Bongino placed third in the August 2016 primary, losing the nomination to Rooney.
